FEAST OF THE HEART OF MARY – 8TH FEBRUARY 2018
On the 8th of February, 1648, St. Jean Eudes celebrated for the first time the liturgical feast of the Heart of Mary in Autun, France. The Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd celebrate this feast as a sign of their faithfulness to the words of St. Jean Eudes, “you have but one and the same vocation with the Mother of God.”
The Heart of Mary, a marvellous fountain: « Come to me all you who are burdened tired and thirsty along life’s path laden with toil and pain. Come to me here at the fountain, that is to say, not to Jacob’s well but to the Heart of my most worthy Mother, where you will find me, since I have established my dwelling there. It is I who built this beautiful fountain…I made it for you. I filled it with countless blessings for you. I am there for you, to help you discover the great treasures hidden there and distribute them to you. I am there to refresh you, to give you strength and a new life through the living waters it holds. I beg you, come to me! (The Admirable Heart of Mary, Book 2, Chapter 5)
Do we realize the wonderful treasure we own? Don’t we know that not only does Jesus live and remain continually in the Heart of Mary, he is himself the heart of her Heart.
Today, 8th of February, International Day of Prayer and Reflection Against Human Trafficking, we confide this intention to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
