Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd

We are an International congregation, with an apostolic or contemplative lifestyle. We express our charism together with mission partners in 72 countries.

Our Vision

We envision a new way of living that celebrates the connectedness of all God's creation, an inclusive world where the dignity and diversity of all life is honored and protected.

Our Mission

Energized by our evolving understanding of God's love, we build partnerships that promote the dignity and human rights of all, especially women and children. In solidarity, we work for the transformation of unjust systems, the flourishing of humanity and integrity of all creation.

I am with you always

The Word of God:
“God created them man and woman, in God’s own image…” Genesis 1: 27
Reflection
To be human is to be part of the mystery of God. Every human being is a reflection of God’s own being. Our human spirit is somehow immersed, in an extraordinary way, in God’s own Spirit. Think about this for a moment… How do we, in our humanity, reflect God’s image? Can you see in yourself and in those around you, some of the qualities of God’s love and goodness, God’s creativity and wisdom? If we could see something of God’s Spirit reflected in each other and in ourselves, would we not treat each other and ourselves differently? If we could appreciate the likeness of God in each other and in ourselves, would we not bow to one another in reverence? God’s Word today offers you the chance to reverence the image and likeness of God in yourself and in those around you.
Ritual
Pause now… close your eyes and be still… Think of someone you know who reflects God’s image for you. What is it about them…? What quality do they have that reveals God to you…? What about yourself? Can you identify what it is in you that reflects something of God’s Spirit? Take some balm or fragrant oil and anoint yourself, marking yourself with the sign of the cross on your forehead, your heart and your hands. Let the fragrance of this anointing linger in your heart and help you to remember to reverence the God within you and in those around you.
Remember
I am created in the image and likeness of God.
