Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd

We are an International congregation, with an apostolic or contemplative lifestyle. We express our charism together with mission partners in 72 countries.

Our Vision

We envision a new way of living that celebrates the connectedness of all God's creation, an inclusive world where the dignity and diversity of all life is honored and protected.

Our Mission

Energized by our evolving understanding of God's love, we build partnerships that promote the dignity and human rights of all, especially women and children. In solidarity, we work for the transformation of unjust systems, the flourishing of humanity and integrity of all creation.

The Heart of the Mission

Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola (St. Mary Euphrasia 's Birthday). We know that St. Ignatius was a vessel of pride and vanity, but once he recognized the nothingness of the things of this life, his whole care was to humble himself, and procure in all things God's glory, so that he took for his motto; "All for the greater glory of God."

I am with you always

The Word of God:
“Like clay in the Potter’s hand, so you are in my hands” Jeremiah 18: 6
Reflection
Have you ever seen a potter working clay? If you have you will have noticed how carefully and tenderly the potter touches the clay, fingering it, shaping it and re-shaping it until the potter has what the potter desires of the clay. So it is with God and you. Like a potter, God is creating something beautiful in you, shaping and forming you, with loving tenderness. God is always calling you forth, enabling you to grow and become the wonderful person that God sees in you. Just as the potter delights in his or her creation, so too does God delight in you. But trusting the Potter’s touch can be a struggle for us. We can resist the Potter’s touch and become brittle. Today’s Word is an invitation to you to entrust yourself into the tender, loving hands of the Potter and to allow yourself to become a masterpiece of God’s own creative inspiration.
Ritual
Relax your body and close your eyes. Imagine God shaping you as a potter shapes clay… What do you think God is wanting to bring about, or call forth in you at this time in your life? As you reflect on this, try to identify where and how you resist the movement of God in your life… Take time, in the quiet of your heart, to ask God to enable you to become more supple, more responsive to God’s touch… Now, try to visualize or imagine the shape of what God might be birthing and bringing forth in you. Draw it, or if you have clay, let it shape itself in your hands… Having done so, sit back and allow yourself to simply be in the sacred hands of the Potter.
Remember
God is creating something beautiful in me.
