The Word of God:
“I will never forget you…I have carved you on the palm of my hand;” Isaiah 49: 15,16
To feel forgotten must be one of the saddest of all human emotions. There is such a frightening sense of isolation and aloneness in being forgotten and overlooked. It seems as though we don’t matter or even exist when we feel forgotten. And that is the truth of it, we are forgotten because our presence has not been felt or noticed, our existence has not impacted or made a difference. It is as though we are swallowed up in obscurity, absorbed in the crowd and lost in the pressure and stress of time and commitments and prioritized relationships. It is frightening to realize how quickly we can forget so many in our lives! But today’s Word reassures us that God will never forget us, because with God our presence is always felt, our existence is never without impact upon God’s Spirit, and we are never obscure in the eyes of God. Just as a sculptor carves an image from wood or stone, or an artist paints a picture, God has your image always close at hand, looking upon you with love.
Sit quietly…still your body and mind... Allow your self to listen to God’s promise to you…and let your heart really hear it, “I will never forget you…” Using your index finger, write across the palm of your hand the words, “I will never forget you.” Remember these words, and when you feel the hurt and pain of being overlooked or rejected by others, place your fingers upon the palm of your hand and remember God’s constant awareness of you.
God never forget me.
