The Word of God:
“ God is… carrying you as a parent carries a child, all along the way, on the road to this place...” Deuteronomy 1: 29 – 31
Reflection
It is a beautiful image when we think about it; being carried by God! We can really appreciate it when we consider why we carry children. When a child can’t see, or wants to see more, we pick them up and show them the more. When they are in threat of danger or harm, we pick them up and protect them. When a child is weary or in pain on the journey, we pick them up and carry them along the way. And at times, we pick up our children and hold them close just for the sheer delight of loving them. God’s Word to you today is an opportunity for you to look back on your journey and recognize how God has been there with you all the while, carrying you as one who carries a child, close to their heart, bringing you to this place here and now. It is a chance to pause and acknowledge God’s faithful presence in your life.
Ritual
Take time to journal, write or draw about your journey, mapping on your journey the key points at which you were conscious of God carrying you along the way. Talk with God about those times and the reasons why you needed to be carried. Having taken time to remember your journey, allow yourself to be quiet and centred. Close your eyes and become aware of your breathing… Imagine God reaching out to you and holding you close… Let this image fill you… Savour the tenderness of God’s faithful love.
Remember
God is always with me on the journey.
