The Word of God:
“You formed my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being…” Psalm 139:13 - 14
Intimacy surrounds the very core of our being! Intimacy, in its fullest sense, is about knowing the more that is at the heart of another, sensing the inner deep reality of another’s presence, appreciating the mystery of another’s being. This is the kind of intimacy that God knows with us, as the very creator of our being. God’s knowledge and appreciation of the mystery of our being is rooted in the heart of God’s own Spirit, which holds the essence of our being. Today’s Word of God is an invitation to view your own humanity from God’s perspective, and to appreciate in the mystery of your own being the beauty and wonder that God appreciates in you. This is a call to self-intimacy; to sense the inner deep reality of one’s own being, to meet the eyes of one’s own heart and to embrace the mystery of one’s own soul. Here in lies our ability to be intimate with others, that we are able to come home to ourselves, and in the intimacy of God’s Spirit, marvel at the wonder of our being in God.
Close your eyes and centre yourself… Reflect on God’s Word, repeating it several times and allowing the words to settle in you. Name for yourself the word or phrase that speaks most deeply to you. Let this word or phrase mull around in your heart and draw you into a moment of intimacy. Savour the moment and let it linger on in your heart’s memory.
I thank you Creator God, for the wonder of my being.
