Annual Meeting of the RIMOA Leaders

Annual Meeting of the Rimoa Leaders
Choubra - EGYPT

17 to 22 September 2018

The Congregation was founded in Egypt in1845 during the leadership of St. Mary Euphrasia. We stayed and had our meeting in Choubra Convent which was founded in 1859. You can imagine the joy we felt being in the land of Pharaoh with our sisters.

We began our meeting with a time given for personal reflections and conversations. Every year, we choose a theme of more in-depth sharing on the realities of our units. This year, it was about the Formation: initial and ongoing formation in our different units.

Over the next few days, we had reports, conversations and decisions regarding the RIMOA-EUROPE Regional Formation Team, Spirituality, Partnership MDO, Justice and Peace, the Kenya-based RIMOA Contemplative Community.

We had the joy of welcoming three guests Speaker to our meeting: For Justice and Peace -the UN Regional Designate for United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN ECA) Donatus Lilli.  One full day was given to Good Shepherd International Foundation (GSIF) with Director Cristina Duranti and Capacity Building Specialist Marco Casavecchia. They enriched us with their presentations and their questions especially on our role as leaders for the development of the mission. While this was a first meeting, it was rich in knowledge for the future and we hope it is a starting point to expand our collaboration in the Region.

We were grateful for the presence of our 2 Link Councilors Zelna and Mirian who accompanied us and facilitated our discussions. Thanks to the CLT for their concern.

Thank you to the Province of Egypt-Sudan for their warm hospitality and inviting us to visit nearby communities, ministries and some historical sites.

We continue our journey with more impetus at the RIMOA level and we  pray to St. John Eudes and St. Mary Euphrasia to grant us their zeal and vision for the future.
