Appointment of consultors of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life

On Saturday April 10, 2021, Pope Francis appointed twenty new consultors of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life, led by Brazilian Cardinal João Braz de Aviz.

A French monk is among the new consultors in the figure of Dom Dysmas de Lassus. Prior of the Grande Chartreuse monastery and Minister General of the Carthusians since 2014, he is known for his commitment in the fight against abuses within communities. He particularly explored this theme in his book Risques et dérives de la vie religieuse (Risks and Deviations of Religious Life) published in March 2020 by Éditions du Cerf.
 

Several other religious superiors have also been appointed: Father Giordano Rota, abbot of the Monastery of San Giacomo di Pontida (Italy), Father Ricardo Daniel Medina, major superior of the Recollect Augustinians in Argentina, Mother Márian Ambrosio, former superior general of the Sisters of Divine Providence, Mother Elsa Campa Fernández, president of the Federation San José Castilla – Burgos, and Sister Brigid Lawlor, former superior general of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd.
 

The list also includes pontifical university officials: Father Denis Chardonnens (in religion, Brother Denis of the Mother of God), Swiss Discalced Carmelite and dean of the Pontifical Theological Faculty Teresianum since 2014; Father Giuseppe Buffon, dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University Antonianum; Sister Simona Paolini, deputy dean of the Faculty of Canon Law of this same Pontifical University, Father Xabier Larrañaga Oyarzabal, dean of the Institute of Theology of Consecrated Life Claretianum; Father Mario Oscar Llanos, dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the Salesian Pontifical University, and Sister Giuseppina Del Core, director of the Institute of Psychological Research in the Field of Education of the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences Auxilium, and Andrea Perrone, professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, who is the only layperson to figure among these new consultors.
 

Important figures from ecclesiastical structures in various countries have also been called to offer their expertise to the Dicastery for Consecrated Life: Fr. David Ricardo Christian Albornoz Pavisic, judge of the National Ecclesiastical Appeals Court of Santiago, Chile; Sister Sidonie Oyembo, chair of the Committee for Consecrated Life of the Episcopal Conference of Gabon; Sister María José Tuñón Calvo, director of the Episcopal Commission for Consecrated Life of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, and Sister Maria Inês Vieira Ribeiro, president of the Conference of Religious Sisters of Brazil.
 

The list also includes two members of the Roman Curia: Monsignor Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, auditor in the same dicastery, and Father Luigi Sabbarese, referendary of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.
