Emergency Needs for Victims of Tsunami and Earthquake in Indonesia

Relief and rescue operations continue in Indonesia after a massive earthquake and tsunami struck Sulawesi Island killing at least 1,948 people, according to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management.

More than 70,000 homes were destroyed or damaged by the 7.5 magnitude quake that struck on September 28, launching waves as high as six meters that slammed into Sulawesi at 800 km/h.

More than 2,500 people were injured and almost 75,000 displaced.

All our sisters and their relatives in Indonesia are safe. Thanks be to God!

This week, the Indonesia Province sent a Sister and tow Mission Partners to Palu to collaborate with Caritas in many programs and to help families faced trauma with this terrible situation and specially those who’ve lost their loved ones.

Good Shepherd sisters will work alongside with Caritas Indonesia and together contribute to support the people affected and help them to rebuild their lives.

Let us continue to pray for the children whom lost their parents and all the families affected.
