Last Friday, 8th November 2017, around sixty people: Sisters, Mission Partners, Associates and Friends of the Congregation, gathered in the Motherhouse to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first vows of St. Mary Eufrasia in Our lady of Charity in Tours and the 150th anniversary of her Golden Jubilee in Angers.

St. Mary Euphrasia and Sr. M. Agustin Fernandez Concha were at the heart of the celebration. They were represented by two Sisters dressed as in XIXth century.

The joyful celebration was enlivened by readings from the Motherhouse annals, a letter written by Sr. M. Agustin Fernandez Concha to St. Mary Euphrasia, singing and the distribution of souvenirs and bouquets of flowers.

In 1867, Sr. M. Agustin Fernandez Concha, from Chile who founded 36 houses in latin America, was attending the celebration of St. Mary Euphrasia Golden Jubilee. She offered a bouquet of roses to each Superior, with a ribbon where it was written: “Souvenir of our very Honorable General Mother Mary Euphrasia Pelletier, 9th September 1867.”

We also took the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of the letters written by Sr. M. Agustin Fernandez Concha to St. Mary Euphrasia and other sisters.

The letters, sent by the Province of Argentina-Uruguay, were received in the hall of the Museum and transported to the archives of the Congregational Spirituality Centre.

The celebration was followed by an aperitif in the dining room, a wonderful friendly occasion gathering all the communities of the site, the mission partners, associates and friends of the Congregation.
