Part of a conversation with Sister Antoinette Assaf, responsible of St. Antoine Dispensary with L'Osservatore Romano "Earlier, I heard a small explosion. I was resting as I took a little break from work. Suddenly, a big roar. I live on the fifth floor of a building that houses the Saint-Antoine Dispensary in Beirut", an overcrowded and impoverished area where a mixed population of Christians and Muslims live. "Everything collapsed. Oh my God! What do I do? Objects and furniture fell on the floor. We started running. Are they bombing us? Why? Meanwhile I keep hearing more explosions, buildings... more
Novena in honor of Saint John Eudes During the month of August, the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudist Fathers) have honored its founder, by setting the ambiance with messages, letters, emails, images and videos shared among those incorporated, candidates and associates, as well as those communities of the Great Eudist Family. For this reason, as of August 10th, to further intensify the preparation for his memory, which the Church celebrates on August 19th, we will begin the novena in honor of Saint John Eudes. Originally published in 1980, the novena has now been re-designed and spread... more
It seems that the time has not yet come to hang our panels “ danger past ” alluding to Covid 19. It is because of this insecurity that we still witness countless signs of heroic humanity towards those who lack practically the mere necessity for their livelihood…I am not saying “ they lack the superfluous ”. Maybe one day these daily signs of humanity will be written for the Cause of Beatification of many anonymous saints, who today, very timidly and faithfully, dedicate themselves to their “neighbor”…..but as a religious of “Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd” I cannot refrain from... more
Mission in times of pandemic. Jujuy community. Argentina-Uruguay Unit As soon as the Covid 19 pandemic compulsory quarantine started, our community, spurred on by the "zeal that never says enough", considered some initiatives, such as offering to shop for some elderly neighbors, etc. A time without certainties, we never even in dreams saw an experience like this, so strange and extensive. Through the news we learned the reality that the Provincial State had to host people who returned to the Province and that it was necessary to protect them from contagion. Due to the novelty of the... more
Nestled in a lush landscape, the city of Bobo-Dioulasso is located in the south-west of Burkina Faso. Similar to much of western Africa, the people here are known for their great ethnic and religious tolerance and the city’s tree-lined streets bustle with the sounds of different languages and dialects. When the sisters arrived in 2011 to establish the Congregation’s first mission in the country, they were warmly received – and have continued to feel welcome ever since. Bobo-Dioulasso is the county’s second-largest city but is often referred to as its economic and commercial capital; the city... more
Virtues attributed to Aguchita Emanuele Spedicato and Waldery Hilgeman 13 June 2020 E: Blessed is she, Aguchita, who modelled for us the scripture readings of today. In the eyes of those who knew her, there is no doubt that Sister Aguchita lived the three evangelical counsels with steadfast commitment. Aguchita also professed a fourth vow, that of zeal for the mission of the Congregation. Through this, Aguchita committed herself "to live and work for the salvation of persons, especially those to whom [she was] sent." [1] W: She worked tirelessly to offer suitable training to the people of La... more

Webinar #1 – 12 th May 2020 Dear Sisters, Partners in Mission, and Friends, Thank you to all those who participated in the first webinar of Conversations with Br. Philip Pinto. Wasn’t Brother Pinto inspirational, challenging, and re-assuring! We apologise again to our Spanish, French, and Italian speakers... more
We are perplexed by the chaos that has set in again on the planet. A great fear has taken over humanity, a veil of mourning covers the world, fear, crying and pain have put us in a condition of powerlessness and strange equality. Our consecrated life and that of all Christians, cannot give up or remain silent; they must announce Hope and be a point of light in the midst of chaos! Our subject is faith in the Word and in the history of our redemption, looking with confidence at the Crucified and believing in the Resurrection. We remember God's people crossing the desert, described in Numbers 21... more
